Metals and Algae Treatments
Metals
Stain-producing minerals are usually chemical compounds containing iron, copper and manganese. These metals can enter the pool through erosion of metal equipment or from natural water supplies. Oner Chlorination can cause metals to fall out of solution and cause staining. You can prevent rust stains by using a metal inhibitor.
OPAquatics Sequa-Sol is a stable water conditioning formulation specially designed for the prevention of scale formation, rust stain, and reduction of corrosion in swimming pool equipment by preventing the precipitation of minerals in pool water.
OPAquatics Sodium Hexametaphosphate- Initial dosage is 1 lb per 20,000 Gallons.
Maintenance Dosage- 1 oz. per 10,000 Gallons every 2 weeks.
Algae
Algae is a small plant-like organism which can reproduce rapidly in sunlight and water. These plants are continuously being brought into your pool by rain, wind and dust. Algae can give your pool a green, murky appearance, or they can appear as isolated spots on pool walls or bottom.
Green Algae - A free-floating algae which can grow on the walls and in the water. They are bright green in appearance.
Brown Algae - Algae which grow on the walls and in the water and appear ochre or brown in color.
Black Algae - Algae which form tough, dark-colored spots on the pool walls or bottom. The black algae, once it gets a foothold in the pool, is very resistant to treatment.
OPAquatics Pool Brite Concentrated Algaecide is copper algaecide which will ensure effective algae control. When used as directed it will eliminate unsightly algae and also prevent its recurrence.
OPAquatics Algimycin 2000 is a two-phase liquid algaecide that is both algicidal and algistatic against tougher algae problems. It is easy to use, and it does not foam, stain or add metals to the water.
