Federal Pool & Spa Safety Law
The Virginia Graeme Baker Pool & Spa safety act "ANTI-ENTRAPMENT" requires the installation of anti-entrapment drain covers in all new and existing pools and spas by December 19, 2008.
A pool or spa with a single main drain on direct suction must make additional adjustments beyond installing a drain cover. It must also have a safety vacuum release system or drain disablement device.
